Dude was instrumental in pioneering the DIY ethic that has been so influential to the punk scene, he originated the term straight-edge for the way he lived his life. He was a real contrast to the “fuck it lets do heroin” attitude that makes/made up a lot of the scene.
To say he’s a big deal is a bit of an understatement.
