Leaving Afghanistan was just freely letting the Taliban do whatever they want, how is that a good thing?

I’m not saying it was a good thing, I’m saying it’s what the rest of the world wanted the US to do. After all the accusations of imperialism and global hegemony &etc., the US military finally packed up and left, even though this outcome with the Taliban was fully predictable.

So now what, the US should go back and fix it? Occupy Afghanistan again?

        This is not really true:

While it is true that American-made vehicles, weapons, and other supplies have fallen into the Taliban’s hands, the value of this equipment has been wildly exaggerated as rumors and memes circulated on social media.

No, I mean we spend a decade forming and training a formal afghan military specifically to prevent the taliban from taking over the country, and they folded in less than 48 hours
