    Here’s a hint: which tank stayed in service after the war? Oh right…the IS-2 was in use until 1970. The Tiger 2 was immediately scrapped at the end of WWII in 1945. If the Tiger was actually a good tank, the Allies would have copied it once they got their hands on them after the war.

    Critical point here, that this Soviet offensive was small-scale against a larger German force. The Germans took their successful defense and turned it into a propaganda victory.

    However, on a strategic level, this battle tied large German armored formations in Romania, while the Soviets conducted successful breakthroughs in Western Ukraine and Southern Poland.
