I read that it’s pronounced boh-ops but I still read it as boops
If it’s wrong, I don’t want to be right
The german name seems to be
Gelbstriemenbrasse
Also:
Like many sea bream, it is a protogynous hermaphrodite, i.e. the female sexual organs mature first and then the male ones. Young fish are therefore females, old and large specimens are males.
… interesting concept.
Swedish one is Oxögonfisk, which looks like a name of a metal band or a weird chemical name.
As written at the very start on Wikipedia:
'from Ancient Greek βόωψ, literally ‘ox-eyed’
Ah, so Swedish is literally using “ox eyed fish” as the name.
Boop
B. boops
I will never not upvote the Boops boops.
