Well, it seems there is a different translation at work here.
In England English Pants are underwear, while Trousers are American English Pants.
Found this out when my wife stated to our Welsh friends mother it was finally cold out so she was wearing pants for the first time since spring…which got a titter and an ‘oh dear’…which was adorable.
