might be a good place you mention that you can use the NoScript extension to block paywalls. i’ve found it works on most websites with a paywall. it works by simply not loading the javascript code responsible for showing the paywall.
Although a lot of paywall sites are smart enough to only load part of the text, or only load it with a “show more” button, which would also break if you disable JavaScript.

yeah it doesn’t work for all of them, but it does work for a surprising amount of them
I use NoScript for 10+ years and it has never worked for me :(
