Based on the long, LONG history of these, NHTSA will blame only the driver, find no problems whatsoever with Tesla’s complete lack of addressing this problem that has existed since day 1 of their in-house software stack, the Stan army will celebrate and pretend this isn’t a major software fault, and the rest of us will shake our heads in disbelief.

I’m hoping the Democrats being in control of DoT would change things. But good grief, its been 2+ years of Buttigieg and we really haven’t seen much change on this issue. Anyone would be better than Chao however.

Then again, NHTSA hasn’t had a head for years now, soon to be a decade. Maybe we should ask Congress to approve a damn leader here?

Yeah, the party doesn’t seem to make a difference since we’ve had 3 presidents since the first crashes started happening and nobody’s done a damn thing. NHTSA is incapable of doing the basics necessary, and nobody cares to push them on it. Pete is entirely unqualified for the position, so here we are. FSD roaming the roads based on the same poor concepts as AP, AP crashing into stopped trucks, sides of trailers, etc. We’ve seen countless examples of this stuff behaving dangerously and nobody seems interested in stopping it. So until we have our Uber AV moment, expect more people to die.
