I have a hardware device which allows me to stream live free to air tv over my wifi network. The manufacturer has decided to retire to product and has removed the app from the AppStore!?

So, next time I get a new phone I’ll be screwed.

I am not jailbroken, and the last time I was was a while ago.

I have a windows pc, iPhone 8, and iPad Air 2 at my disposal. Both devices have the app in question installed.

Ideally, I would be able to download the IPA and move it to a new device without having to side load it. At this point in my life I don’t really have the time and patience to jailbreak.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Though I can’t add anything substantial, the last time I dabbled with jailbreaking my device it was shockingly simple. Essentially just visit a website, move an install slider to the right and wait 2 minutes. I don’t know if it still is this convenient, but I would guess so?

Most is tethered, so requires a PC to rejailbreak after reboot. Not ideal for a main device.

Data, yes. Apps which no longer exist on the AppStore, no. Apps are not migrated device to device. The new device is just directed to download the apps fresh from the AppStore.

I believe that iPhone backups basically function as a tar file containing every thing on your phone including apps, but it’s been years since I used that system. It used to be possible to open them up, look through them and selectively restore items…. I assume it still is but am not sure. Sorry I couldn’t help more but I’d suggest to look into backup files.

Yeah it used to be like that but now the backups do not backup the apps, just your data.

When you restore, your phone proceeds to download those apps. Since the app has been removed, this won’t work.

Also iTunes no longer allows the installation of apps.

Thanks for your quick reply, though. I guess I am probably out of luck u less I jailbreak or find the ipa online (which I doubt).

Can you not re-download the app by going to the App store and taping your profile? I believe it works even if the app was removed from the store

No, you cannot. I have multiple devices. I cannot download it on the devices which don’t have it, even if I go through my previous downloads.

I just double checked, and it doesn’t even show up under purchases.
