Less than a year ago, KATU interview a man living on Clinton Street who was trying to stabilize the homeless camping situation in his neighborhood.

I seem to remember at the time everyone was saying “This doesn’t sound like a good idea, let’s see how that works out for you…”

    Housman had owned the entire block of property that stretches the length of Clinton Street since 2019.

    Good riddance. Landlords investing in residential property is a wealth crime.

    Okay, so this guy wasn’t actually an officer, but he was trying to maintain the peace on his block. I can respect that. But there are reasons there are so many homeless people, and mental health issues is often either a catalyst in or a symptom of their being on the streets. I feel bad this dude was killed, but c’mon man…dont get in the middle of beef between two people, whether they are homeless or not, whether you’ve vetted them as worthy of living on your block or not. You’re not a middle school teacher.
