Went camping in northern Michigan this week and I was quite popular with the local biting flies.
Delightfully, I found this local food samaritan doing their part to save me, and they were gracious enough to show off a little for the camera.

I think that’s a Attulus floricola.
Identification has never been my strong suit.
I got some better pictures of the markings on the back of that helps. :)
(I wasn’t chasing them around, I just took a few pictures every time I walked past the picnic table 😊)
