The price for UDisc Pro has doubled to $30. Free users will now be able to create unlimited scorecards, however will lose access to historical scorecards/stats.

As someone who values their stats to see how they are improving(mainly putting), this is disappointing.

I’m not thrilled about it particularly since it feels so soon after the previous price hike, but it’s a great app. I also wish I could use my Google play credits for the early renewal discount.

I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to paying what is $2.50 a month if UDisc would add additional features…

There are a handful of quality-of-life changes I’d like to see.

    • The ability for the course ambassador to give holes titles, especially on alternate layouts (example: Tee 3 to Basket 6)
    • The ability for the course ambassador to add descriptions to individual holes, including mandos, OB, and hazard information
    • The ability for the course ambassador to add mandos, OB, and hazard areas directly to the map
    • The ability for a course ambassador to link holes on one layout to holes on another for stat tracking purposes (ie. hole 1 on full 18 is the same hole as hole 1 on the front 9 layout)
    • The ability to mark a lie (not just a stroke) from Apple/Android watches
    • Linking UDisc with Fitbit/Apple Health, so that when you start and end rounds, it starts and ends a recorded exercise session.
    • The ability to view a history of your scores, throws, and stats from the website without having to use the app.
    • The ability to import a round from PDGA Live so that you don’t have to manually enter the data again
    • The ability to import disc information
    • An option to prompt for disc thrown when recording lies so that you can keep track of stats for all discs for every throw

Wow that’s a great list. I’d add in a social feature so I can see my friend’s scores. My ball golf app Grint let’s me know when my friends are playing and I can see how they are doing live

I was trying to figure out how to do that yesterday and just assumed it was buried in a menu somewhere I couldn’t find. Yes, that would be awesome.

    Full email below

Thank you for being a UDisc Pro subscriber. You are part of a community that helps us chart the direction of the app with your feedback, feature requests, and consistently high standards, and your support allows us to continue furthering our mission: to grow disc golf with technology. We can’t do that without you.

One of our guiding principles at UDisc is transparency. We value the trust that you, as a member and fellow disc golfer, have placed in us to come along on your disc golf journey, so we wanted to give you a friendly heads-up about some changes coming to the app.

What’s changing with UDisc Pro The price of an annual UDisc Pro membership has increased to $29.99 annually (that’s $2.50 per month). You don’t need to take any action now – your current subscription will renew on January 31, 2024, at the new price.

If you choose to cancel your UDisc Pro subscription, you will no longer be able to view your lifetime scorecards and statistics. However, you can continue to keep score as much as you want, as we’ve removed the 10 scorecard limit for free accounts. And, as always, you’ll still be able to explore the world’s largest disc golf course directory, create wishlists, receive a monthly progress report, use a variety of practice tools, and much more.

Why we’re making these changes Over the past several months, our team has worked hard to enhance your UDisc experience in a host of ways, including:

🔍 Redesigning the course pages with more precise information and a cleaner look 🛠️ Building a new, self-service event scoring platform ⭐ Revamping the course review system to include ratings by category 😱 Adding difficulty classifications to courses and layouts (coming very soon!) That’s just to name a few improvements. We also continue to provide impactful data to course ambassadors and local clubs, both via our annual Disc Golf Growth Report and monthly Course Replays. These organizers are using that information to help get more courses in the ground.

This price change will help us maintain the quality of these offerings, and it will also allow us to grow our team so we can deliver even more value and support to disc golfers worldwide. We know you want to experience more in the app, and this adjustment will help us accelerate the development of highly requested additions like new scoring modes, round ratings, and whatever other amazing ideas you can dream up.

    Thank you for your support

UDisc has come a long way in a short time, growing from two passionate players to a team of nearly 30 disc golfers dedicated to helping you find courses, keep score, and improve your skills. We are grateful for your support and hope you’ll continue to bring us along for every birdie, every bogey, and every memory you make playing this wonderful game.

    Thank you, Team UDisc

Yeah, they bumped it from $5 to $15 not that long ago. The app is pretty fantastic honestly and I hope that this will be the height of their price increases.

    shrug

I’m on pace to play something like 40-50 rounds this year. I guess there is some threshold above which I’m not willing to pay for UDisc, but less than $1/round ain’t it.

That’s even before you factor in other stuff like cataloging discs, measuring throws, leagues, etc. It’s still well worth it IMO.

I love the change. I don’t care about any of the features other than keeping score so allowing me to be a free user is perfect.

My buddies that want to track their discs, measure throws, etc all aren’t really scared by the price.

    Win-win
