What you’re seeing is unresolved trauma. Breaking away from religion can be an emotional, traumatic, socially isolating experience. And if people don’t put in the work to heal, it comes out like this.

“Shit I gave birth to a moron” is just straight up pretentious and has that fedora redditor energy thinking they’re superior to theists. Just let them have some sort of concept of god as a coping system. Doesn’t mean you’re better then them.

Yep, that edge is the trauma showing. Why would someone need to be edgy if they were confident? They still haven’t processed their issues and they need to.

That said, having religion as a coping mechanism is dangerous. One you believe something that large without evidence, you can be easily conned and manipulated. This is exactly what we see in America, and look how that’s going.

You just did what you said is bad lol. Sometimes it’s not the act of prayer to a greater being, but rather praying itself that helps them. Like a way to connect to the universe. God is ultimately an abstract concept anyways.

I think they’re just determined to cringe at literally anything they ever see. The “edge” here is just a choice of humor style.

And calling theists morons is pretty easy seeing that they can obviously easily fall for anything. Believing in God in and of itself is just a blip of ignorance, and we all have a million of those. But the fact it leads to so many other wrong beliefs makes it correct.

In other words, they’re not a moron for being a theist, but being one will make them a moron.

        thinking they’re superior to theists

Which we are, at least when it comes to the field of believing in fairy tales well into adulthood.

This is the cringe I’m talking about. This is like the stereotype reddit neckbeard fedora behavior.

Funny, just some 5 minutes ago I literally touched grass. And we’re visiting family, so I’ve talked to 4 real people! Any other great advice?

Well, that’s probably not gonna work for me, sorry. If someone came to you with something as crazy sounding as those various gods and religions are, you would (rightfully) think they’re a little crazy.
