I’m gonna play devil’s advocate, reluctantly, and say he probably mentioned Germany because it’s the side that lost both wars, and that would change history significantly.

On the other hand, what kind of maniac would want Nazi Germany to win WW2? Nazis gon’ nazi.

I don’t understand why access to WiFi is significant unless there is also an internet. What would be on this internet?

I guess we could get some interesting selfies if it was found at least.

Deinsustrialisation and consumerism has turned the “I love science” types into a hilarious and fascinating cargo cult. Alienated from the material reality of the production of technological advancement, they’re left with a superstitious awe at the treats, imbuing them with a magical power over reality itself.

Gotta appreciate that they spotted the obvious defect in the plan of having only 1 phone but somehow missed that those phones need to communicate over some sort of medium. Unless wifi is the medium? Is it future wifi? 🤔

You could probably set up an ad hoc WiFi connection directly between the phones, but they would still need some kind of app or service installed that allows the two to call or communicate to each other. Not sure what because all the ones I’ve found work off a cloud service or at least some third party server.

Even top scientists would probably call it magic, if you had zero introduction to previous technologies you’d be like “the metal inside produced an image on the glass when I touch it… what the absolute fuck is this”

A phone would become a legend and be lost. Anciente people wouldn’t be able to read the screen so what’s the point?

The fact they hid that in the middle of the paragraph leaning towards the end, this guy knows what he’s doing.
