I know a lot of people that are white cis- het- people–both men and women–that also like guns, but are much less empathetic to the rights of women/feminism, non-white people, LGBTQ+ people, people that aren’t Christian (I’m not christian, but I was raised that way can can pass if necessary), etc.
And to point out what should be obvious, cops in general and the system as a whole aren’t going to be on your side when trouble comes calling.
So yeah–get strapped, get trained. Start competing in IDPA, hit factor (or USPSA, if you prefer), two gun, PSCL, etc. Git gud. Because at the end of the day, cops not only can’t protect you, but cops won’t protect you.
Look into the Pink Pistols and Operation Blazing Sword for LGBTQ+ friendly instructors. If you’re in her area, ATWFI is doing good work. Check out Yellow Peril Tactical; they’ve got good advice, and two of their founding members are USPSA Grand Masters. (They’re also all Asian; hence the name.)
