To be clear, a Quest 1 or Quest 2?

There was software called Oculess that removed fb and telemetry. But as far as i know updates made “Oculess” software obsolete. Not aware of any “jailbreak” for the meta headsets.

I haven’t picked up either yet. Can it be set up to be used as an “offline device” with no account with meta related sites made? And then use it like a normal VR headset with Steam?

Or for standalone Quest headsets use it like a jailbroken switch using content offline?

“Oculess” is the only software im aware of that disabled all fb related items and allowed the headset to function as a pc vr only headset. But as that isnt usable anymore.

As far as stand alone, you can create a meta account, enable dev mode, then disable wifi indefinitely. Then use rookies to sideload games and just only play offline standalone games.

Is this request due to restrictions where you live with fb?

Just not a fan of facebook but I am fine with making a throw away meta account if enabling dev mode and going offline can make it function with sideloading.

So Oculess won’t work past a certain firmware update like how PS4 jailbreaks work? If headset I pick up is an older version would it work for a pc vr only headset?

Possibly, check out the github page for more info on the Oculess software to come to a conclusion there.

As far as the burner account, yes, you can make a meta account, use it to login to the headset for first setup. Enable dev mode, then disable wifi indefinitely and sideload pirate content via a sideloader.

Also not a fan of facebook, I did this for a long time. Still do, when new firmwares have alot of bugs i just drop off grid a while till its stable. I recommend the burner account because you will get both stand alone and pcvr (wired). I use wifi simply for the wireless pcvr stuff, but i use it the same way you are trying to. With as little meta crap as possible.
