Lynch says that his ‘number one priority’ is getting the Tories out and that, realistically, that means putting Starmer in:
“That doesn’t mean that we give him carte blanche or a blank cheque to do whatever he likes.”
“I support getting rid of this government and I’m a realist – the only government we’re going to get as an alternative will be led by Keir Starmer, so people have to deal with that, people have got to grow up a bit in some senses.
“That’s the government we’re going to get and we have to make the best of that opportunity.”
Pressure Labour to back LD on non FPTP voting and then turn up the pressure when they’re in so that the elections are at least remotely less “pick the big guy you hate the least”
This is my feeling on things. Get labouring. Then turn the screws. Get a 3rd party into a position where labour could face an existential threat under FPTP, and use that to drive a better voting system.
I want to see a parliament made up of many smaller parties making compromises and concessions, rather than a block just whipping through what they can get away with.
I want something similar in the US, what I picture is multi seat districts elected through STAR voting, and a shitload more seats than there currently are.
I picture a well secured network being used to facilitate a system where the districts have congress critters who act as PR at home while their colleagues go to participate in the nationally held debates, with everyone being able to cast their votes in favor or against a bill either in person or at a distance.
Then again I’m also a weirdo who thinks it’d be dope to replace the current capital district with a blended architecture Grecco-Roman flavoured Haudenosaunee Longhouse design wrapped around a shrunk down version of the X-Seed 4000 plans, so maybe my ideas need a bit more outside contribution lol
