An Indiana state lawmaker was captured on video opening his suit jacket and flashing a holstered pistol to shaken students who were on a visit to the Statehouse in Indianapolis to voice their concerns about guns and school shootings, according to The Statehouse File.“I’m carrying one right now,” R…

Jesus how tone deaf is this guy? Why not play a fucking air raid siren for PTSD-riddled veterans while you’re at it?

Maybe set off a bunch of explosions to show how much you honor their service to the country.

The exact problem is that it is not all that different anymore. We have put the utter fear of god into American kids about school shootings, to the point where if they see someone on school grounds with a piece, they know damn well that it might be the last thing they ever see.

He said they clearly weren’t ready to handle the situation “if they felt intimidated by somebody, like myself, just simply showing them something that is protected by our Constitution.”

What an insensitive prick. The students went to the statehouse because they have perfectly reasonable fears, and are concerned for their lives. This piece of dogshit responds by traumatizing them.

These kids just got a lesson in how much their elected officials, Republicans in particular, care about them.

Yeah these politicians tend to forget that kids grow up to become voters. Seeds planted early usually have the strongest tendencies to sway a voter.

Isn’t it not legal to carry in government buildings? Or am I misreading all those signs with a picture of a gun and the red x over it?

After a quick look, it appears that they don’t. In Indiana, you actually have to point the gun at someone before there are any potential legal repercussions.

Note: I am not a lawyer, law student, or even a resident of Indiana.

    “I’m carrying one right now,”

Yes that’s the problem. Short tempered lunatics with guns.

Lucas then said, “The people who want to kill you, don’t care about your feelings though.”

And Fivecoats came back, “Exactly, that’s the problem.”

I wish more people could understand and take this to heart. Seems like it completely went over the guy’s head.
