Title. Might also just be a mobile app thing thats not making this easy for me.
Instances are federated (linked) - posts you make in a community one will also show up for people subscribed to the community on other instances.
I mean you can just post a comment, like I did now. My instance is @feddit.de, so we are from different instances.
You can open any other community from an different Instance, subscribe to it and post or comment.
Kinda. I’m not yet sure if its a bug but sometimes if you follow links to other instances, the login doesn’t transfer over.
Then you’re for example on beehaw.org and can’t interact or login until you return to your home instance.
Yeah, the login will never transfer. It is similar to an email provider: just because you have shapesandstuff @gmail.com does not mean you could log in at shapesandstuff@yahoo.com
But it is no problem to write an email to yahoo users. I guess from the understanding this could help.
It is an issue and something should be changed, that clicking on links to other instances won’t open at your instance. But in general, you could search for the community (from a different instance) in your instance’s search box, should not be a problem to comment or post there. Same as I do now.
I subscribed to !asklemmy@lemmy.ml from feddit.de
I totally get that, and it makes sense. Just during use this can happen in unexpected (from a layman’s user perspective) moments.
As you said, you can send your comments to other “providers” but sometimes if I get to a post in a certain way, I loose my connection to home and can’t participate anymore.
I’ll have to check a bit more when that happens.Yeah totally understand that, and it is indeed annoying. (Happen to as well) Let’s hope that with new users also come new apps and updates. 😁
