In this video he discusses how the United Kingdoms “Online Safety Act” would require tech companies to implement backdoors into their encryption algorithms in order to comply with requirements to do proactive scanning for illegal content.
The UK government is a never-ending source of stupidity, huh?
Yep. They don’t even realize these backdoors, or ‘safety nets’ as they call it, can and will be used by nefarious actors.
I just hope it doesnt spread to other countries. Its like a disease of “encryption” == “bad”
Germany is trying this for a while now. We keep fighting back and managed to hold it at bay, but the SPD and CDU keep bringing it back to the table. I fear one day they will have their will.
