With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be these computers’ only secure hope, what do you think?
I think the technical ability is somewhat overblown, but it is easy to be intimidated in switching.
I just switched to Mint the other day and was consuming YouTube Linux tutorials like crazy, afraid that I would do something that would break it, but I’ve honestly found using it pretty straight forward. I’ve gone out of my way to learn and use the shell, but I think that the majority of people could get their use case without it.
