A few years ago, I spent most of my savings on The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Winter, and Stars Above; I didn’t get Fairest), read them all, and loved them…though I didn’t reread them and sold them some time later.
And what was the first series you spent most of your savings on?
Edward Eager’s Tales of Magic (7 books)
I’ve loved them ever since I got Half Magic from the public library one summer
Raymond Feist probably in it’s entirety. Though I remember Redwall being the first books I bought a lot of with my pocket money! Still have them all, I’ll be passing them onto my kids if I ever get around to having any!
The warriors series had me when I was growing up, bought all 42 books and then all the extras. Must’ve read that series four of five times through
Hunger Games. Paid with my pocket money i saved. Untill that i borrowed from library or bought 1 book at a time. After Hunger Games i spent even more money on the while Harry Potter series.
The Dark Tower
Wheel of Time
E.E. Smith, I am not sure if I completed the Lensman or the Skylark series first. These were much more popular in the early 1970s, when I was a tween, than they are today. Also understand that in those days series sci-fi wasn’t all that common, most sci-fi novels were standalones.
Nancy Drew. I didn’t get all of them, but I would walk to the bookstore near my house and “collect” the vintage ones with my babysitting money.
kingsbridge series by Ken Follett
Tamora Pierce’s Immortals Series. The library only had the first book of the series to borrow and I needed to read it NOW dammit.
Way back in high school I bought The Darksword Trilogy by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. Loved those books.
Dune and the Horus heresy….yes I have read / own every Horus heresy book lol.
Anne Rice’s vampire chronicles
Harry Potter, although one book at a time
Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter or the Warriors series by Erin Hunter when I was younger, and the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas more recently
