Any of you managed to find a place that has living costs about $10-$15k or lower? I’m looking for a place where:
- Preferably English speaking or easy to navigate for an English speaker
- High-speed internet (and very very reliable electricity/networking services)
- Vegetarian-friendly
- Progressive society (places like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, North Korea etc. would be out of question)
Within 2 years or so my financial situation would be much better but I just want to get out of the shithole I live in asap. Would love to hear suggestions from people who actually managed to find such place
India and Nepal are both great countries right now. You can freaking love well if you go to a place like Bir, in India. It’s a Himalayan Buddhist and paraglider launch town, combining great restaurants with cheapmrent and beautiful surroundings. The cost of an omelette, coffee, toast and curried potatoes might be $1.15 at a local joint and at a fancy pants place maybe $4.00. if you make some friends you can find s room in house with other budget travellers for 10,000 rupees a month or $120 per month with a kitchen and hot water etc… Indian Techies live on like $850 per month
