When you’re abroad and need to have a long phone call, such as to the local office of an airline in a different country, or to a bank/broker or government agency back in the US, how do you normally do that? Let’s assume you have a local SIM or are using Airalo. Do you use something like Skype Out?

I have a couple of SIMs with WiFi calling and IDD rates cheap enough that I decide it’s not worth dealing with other apps.

If I have a local SIM, or if I use my US SIM, I just make the call and eat the extra charge for international calls. If you are using Airalo and can’t make phone calls you will be stuck using Skype or Google Voice or some other VOIP.

I have a phone that supports dual SIM, so I have a Mint Mobile eSIM with no roaming, but WiFi calling still works
