I am having a hard time deciding which version of the switch I should go for.

#1 - OG Switch + Mario Kart = $312CAD inc. tax
#2 - Switch OLED (without a game) = $368CAD inc tax

I plan to play 50/50 on TV and handheld. I already have a PS5 as my go-to console, the switch would likely be something I play laying in bed, or laid back on the couch.

Considering the OG version comes with a game I plan to buy it is essentially a price difference of $130. Is the OLED version worth that much more?

Gdamn all of you! I am not sure why I even opened this thread, as I had no intention of buying the OLED. Now I am fighting the urge, even though I don’t need it at all.

I would wait for next year and hope to get the new machine. It’s so late in the consoles life cycle now.

Good luck buying a Switch 2 in the first year with all the scalpers out there these days.

If you have any intention of playing it portably then the oled IDC the obvious choice, period imo.

The OLED looks fucking sexy and the battery lasts longer than OG Switch.

Entirely up to you. I prefer playing handheld on the OLED over my 1080p LCD tv.

The OLED is worth it. It looks amazing. You can always pick up MarioKart later used for cheap.

Get OLED and used mario kart or new doesn’t matter. Whatever you prefer

People saying the battery is better isn’t entirely true anymore because the OG switch had a silent refresh that has the same battery management as OLED.

OLED has a waay better kick stand, of course the screen is gorgeous and the rails where the joycons slide into are metal instead of plastic giving it a more rigid and premium feel

The screen on OLED is glass but has a thin plastic screen protector so if you care I’d get a glass svreen protector. I used one by the brand called Orzly and it’s great. The plastic screen protector is there because if you crack the glass it stops it from shattering completely and having glass falling out. So you could remove that or just do what I did and stick a glass protector ontop of it.

But anyway! If the nicer screen, kickstand and premium feel from the metal rails doesn’t do anything for you then go with the OG.
