I did 3 weeks in Almuñécar, Granada. Slow season but pretty and able to get a place right on the beach for pretty inexpensive via a 1 month Airbnb rental

Seville is a really nice, fully realized city. Lots to do, you feel like you are living in a nice town vs. vacationing some place. They have great markets, culture, and beautiful sites.

If you like the “vacation feel”, the entire strip from Malaga to Benalmadena fits the bill. I particularly like Torremolinos, there is a train station right in the center of Torremolinos that takes you directly, and quickly to Malaga city or the airport. Torremolinos itself is easily walkable and is inhabited by a mix of international retirees and LGBTQ+ of all ages. There are many shops, bars and even large hypermarkets like Carrefour.

I spent a month in southern Spain last February, and it was a wonderful experience. The weather is mild compared to other parts of Europe at that time of year, making it ideal for exploring. Seville, Granada, and Malaga are great options with their rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine. If you’re into smaller towns, Ronda and Cádiz are also charming. For accommodation, I used Rebookify to find some great hotel deals, which helped me stretch my budget further. If you’re open to other suggestions, Portugal’s Algarve region or Sicily in Italy also offer lovely winter escapes with similar mild climates. Enjoy your trip!
