I’ve got some LED strips in my living room above some crown molding that are currently wired to a cheap RGB controller, which is controlled by a light switch (for power) and a remote. I’m looking to swap the controller out for something that I can control with HA via Z-Wave or Zigbee. However, I’m trying to keep everything in my home automation system functional in the even that HA goes down, and I’d like to have an easy way for the rest of my family (who don’t use HA and/or are too young to have phones) to control the lights with a remote. Does anyone know of any controllers that can work as a stand-alone unit, but can also be controlled ZWave/Zigbee? I suppose that as a last resort, I could use an IR blaster, but that seems rather inelegant.

WLED running on an Athom or Quinled device. no stand alone remote, but easily controlled using wifi using the app or webpage. You can also add an IR receiver to them, just not sure if any come that way.

I’ve looked into that a bit in the past, but I’m looking for a solution that works independently of the cloud or my HA instance (if needed). I very much prefer to keep everything functional if HA and/or the internet connection goes down. Thanks for the recommendation, though!

It’s also just the best LED controller I’ve found. Most of the effects are designed for addressable led strips, but there’s still a huge amount of options & you can make your own presets.
