Hello, everyone! First-time poster, long-time lurker.

My friend and I, both day traders, have been traveling for a while. We are now back at our ‘home base’ and have reflected on our trips. We realized that we prioritized partying over our work, resulting in us failing to meet our goals. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Interestingly, when we were traveling, the locals teased us for always being on our computers and not hanging out with them. Perhaps they are more accustomed to tourists being in ‘vacation mode’ and expecting them to drink and chill every day.

Our work is intense, and for our next trip, we plan to maintain a 70% work and 30% partying balance. This means working from Monday to Friday without going out, and dedicating at least 8 hours of work on weekends.

My question is, how do you maintain work-life balance? How do you hold yourself accountable when everyone around you is partying, and you need to stay focused on work? Seeking advice and insights. Thank you.

So I’m starting my DN journey in Jan, but I’m also a trader + have a 9-5, in the AU Timezone.

I simply modified my approach for intraday swings rather than scalps. Surprisingly saw better results.

Instead of being locked at the desk for 5 hours, I dedicate an hour during the overnight session, set some limit orders and alerts then be on my merry way.

    Much more sustainable.

I start work at 5 am because it is nothing interesting to do at that time. But I dont party… By the time that places open, I am done with the deep work.
