I’ve tried many different writing apps over the years. In Raging Swan Press’s early years, I used Microsoft Word and Evernote. Things change, however, and a wise writer and designer seeks out the best tools for the job. I’ve now concluded that no single writing app fits every use-case scenario.Worse
Obsidian. Hands down the best note-taking and writing app.
Just discovered this myself! Going to poke around at it after the holidays, but it seems like exactly what I wanted out of a note-taking app, and even a writing app.
I was actually learning and configuring vim, and taking notes in markdown, before I found an app that did pretty much exactly what I wanted and more without the fuss. :P
A mix of LibreOffice, Kanka.io, and Notion.
Oh, and insane walls of text via SMS to friends who somehow forgot to ask about my midget dance fight lore. Bless them.
One of my most detailed campaigns was mostly written in Scrivener which worked pretty well. Other than that, I mainly use a personal MediaWiki instance.
I’ve used Scrivener for ages! Wrote a bunch of papers with it in college. Great for organizing a project. Lately I’ve been leaning towards a more barebones approach, but there’s no denying Scrivener is extremely good at what it does.
