It’s weird some nomad will judge you based on your origin. Like if you’re from Asia you’re poorer than US or EU people. I joined a few dn meetup that’s what I felt. I know I’m Asian but I’m not a passport bro or digital brokemad. I think I make slight more coz I work for US company (without being an American, hey, it’s possible!). Stereotyping is as annoying as being racist. Maybe experienced nomad won’t have this attitude.

Forget about meetups. They’re for people with poor social skills to shit on others. If you want to meet someone from online, make sure to chat with them for a couple days first to make sure they’re not just another narcissistic loser.

But really, just forget about meetups and go meet people in real life instead.

While travelling until I’m proven wrong I judge

    • backpackers wearing elephant pants as poor, fine with a low quality of life while travelling
    • Americans as loud, obnoxious and inconsiderate
    • Nigerians as loving football and knocking up girls on one night stands

Obviously I won’t treat you like shit unless it becomes warranted

I have another list specific to DNs

I always find this fascinating. Where I grew up we were always taught on school that we have to talk quietly, even in public spaces out of respect. This is something still ingrained in me. Now the problem is whoever I’m with can’t always hear me.

Very loud. I was once in a packed bus of locals in Korea. It was super quiet you could hear a pin drop. Then an American family comes in and just ruins everything. Why are they so loud and inconsiderate?

Any American here that can offer an insight?

Some individuals are nobheads, doesn’t matter what walk of life they are from. Don’t sweat it, you don’t want to hang out with dickbags like that anyway.

Also, don’t judge the ppbs, they’re just responding to incentives like everyone else.

I’m the opposite to you, white woman. And I get stereotyped too wherever I go.

I have had many restaurants tell me they won’t make me a certain meal because I won’t like or it will be too spicy for me. My favourite food is sichuan cuisine and I eat a lot of spice and almost everything. One of my favourite meals is tendon noodle soup. I know I eat a lot of food considered “adventurous” by other white woman. It’s just the way of the world.

You didn’t really just compare racism and xenophobia to you being told food is too spicy for you? What a nice problem to have.

That all Americans are loud, obnoxious, selfish, and rude. It’s a nation of nations, of 330 million people. It’s pretty hard to stereotype that amount of people and the diversity.

The stereotype is typically shed soon after talking with me I think, but it is indeed what everyone commonly thinks of Americans and something I have dealt with as pre-judgement.

I’m an Australian with a local Malaysian partner. I get stereotyped as a passport bro all the time.

Is it annoying? Yes. It’s not only an insult to me but an insult to my Girlfriend too. That’s the part I hate most, as if she’s not allowed to have a western partner or else be labelled a gold digger or something similar. But people that make such judgments are people I have no desire to spend time with.

I’m American. I get a spectrum. I usually get the dissertation of Ameican politics as seen through the lens of other countries which is basically a summary of how stupid we are for Trump OR I get the nationalistic older eastern European guys who want to give me a dissertation on every conspiracy related to American politics which ends with some world order Trump is fighting the good fight baloney.

I usually tell people I’m from the moon.
