It took a long time for people to get onto reddit from places like ifunny, 9gag and facebook in the first place. When reddit started it didnt even have imgur as an imaging service… a redditor mad at reddit had to make that. Also, the vast majority of people visiting reddit are lurkers so if there isnt an adequate amount of content on the fediverse then they dont have a reason to come.
