A new report from Deadline claims that the AMPTP wants the WGA to “bleed out,” and is willing to let the strike drag on until writers run out of money: “A cruel but necessary evil.”
Not in the least because “writers and actors producing their own content during a strike” was how Dr. Horrible happened and I still consider its existence a blessing.
This is how strikes are supposed to work, though. Without the horrible implication of “I am happy anyone is losing their home,” the companies know it’s a race between their bottom line and the workers’ ability to live, and they will always have more money than any one employee. Couch-surfing could be on the table if that’s what it really takes to irritate them.
