Historical fiction?
Yeah loaded question to say the least lol
I don’t think any of the post is right. I have read the Bible cover to cover a couple of times. And it is very much not non-fiction. Maybe OP hasn’t read it and didn’t know.
If there were any books that were like the Bible to me, I’d never want to read them again, and consider them the worst examples of fiction I’ve ever read.

In my line of work, the “Bible” is the Chicago Manual of Style. It is the deciding factor of what is “right” in editing.
Video Game manuals, specially if they have pretty art designs.

National Geographic Kids Almanac. Read them as a kid and I learned a lot from them.
