I love smoking. After a meal or when I don’t know what to do in a social group. What else am i supposed to do with my hands when i don’t say anything ? And the smoke is like my stress coming out from my body. Fantastic. But it stinks, and really, i find the taste awful. The worse is when i try to swin or run; you could hear me breathing like a cow giving birth.

So when my friend Fairy (not her real name) ask me if i wanted to quit with her, i painfully said yes. So we each bought an electronic cigarette and we tried to forget tobacco.

It was hard. All the excuses were good for rolling a cigarette and getting one more egg closer to cancer. But i held. The heat wave did help, i was to hot to go out, at least.

First day over. Hope it’ll last.

Keep going and don’t relent to your base desire, tough I know but it’s worth it. I managed to kick the habit Feb 2022. I approached my GP (UK based) and they put me on patches and a nicotine mist dispenser (to stem cravings). It helped that I was in the right frame of mind to quit. After a three-week dose of the patches, I was done. I haven’t picked up a smoke since then.

I was sick and tired of coughing and wheezing. Stairs were my nemesis. I felt as though I needed a defibrillator after ascending some stairs! But now, I can climb stairs without feeling as though I was on the verge of collapsing. I can go to the gym and put in a session without discomfort.

The benefits to your health are a no-brainer and you’ll notice the positive impact on your finances too.

I used to smoke pot and the actual act of smoking was so therapeutic for me too. I think that it’s so nice because it’s intentional breathing, which we rarely do on a day-to-day basis. Maybe working some breath work or meditation into your daily routine would be a nice way to ease the loss of your old routines.
