One big supermarket chain here has an app where you get a few cents bonus discount on already discounted items with the app coupon. The in-store announcement praises it as the first place of some insitute’s supermarket app ranking. Even if that institute were legit, the ranking fair and the spot well-deserved, I always felt like that’s a competition with no winners.

Particularly since some companies have made their websites intentionally shit so that you’d be encouraged to use the app instead. I noticed that with out local flavour of door dash, where the website got slower and clunkier and generally more shit right around the same time that the “Use our app!” banners got more obnoxious.

Fixed that then. I chose repressed over closeted, as I feel it emphasises the point that they’re pushing themselves deeper into the closet, but maybe that’s a linguistic nuance I’m misunderstanding.

I suppose you could install Word. If you want just Word, you can jump through a few hoops to make the Office Deployment Tool install only Word.

I don’t think that is a reasonable solution for your use case, but I suspect making people use (and buy) the actual Office Suite is the motivation.

Edit: I see my point has been phrased poorly - I was trying to outline that I suspect MS’ point is making people get Word (Office) instead. Maybe I’m just plain wrong on that though.

I think that was the point of “someone rescue me from frontend dev” - if they’re doing so much frontend design work that they instinctively get pedantic about padding vs. margin, they need help.

Also, talesfromtechsupport effectively became talesfromtech because just tech support is to small of a niche to sustain a sub with content. Likewise, if we banned all the not-strictly-programming humour, I don’t know the community will thrive still. It might drive out both content and viewers, and while it’s arguably correct, I don’t think it’s wise.

Actually, that one I’ll give a pass for its context: Cheats mixing in cheap materials with expensive ones, but demanding the full price as if the whole thing was made of the expensive one.

Now the bit in Numbers about the cursed water, that was a bit fucked up - you shouldn’t have to secretly cheat on your husband just to get an abortion. Imagine someone catches you and you get put to death instead. And what if he doesn’t suspect anything or doesn’t give enough of a shit to charge you? Just too unreliable.
