it’s real for real I posted about it too: https://exploding-heads.com/post/82393?scrollToComments=true

    Brave summarizer:

Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS) is a sleep disorder characterized by the perception of a loud noise or explosive crashing sound in the head during sleep-wake/wake-sleep transitions.01 The sound is not real or heard by anyone else and usually lasts less than a second.0 The events are often accompanied by flashes of light and patient distress, but there is no significant associated pain. The sounds have most commonly been described as explosions, gunshots, or thunder, but can be almost any loud noise.1 EHS is classified under other parasomnias and is an unusual type of auditory hallucination in that it occurs in people who are not fully awake. The noise may be frightening, typically occurs only occasionally, and is not a serious health concern.2

there’s also a popular video from 1981 film “Scanners” of a guy’s head exploding

(these came up on a search engine when previous searched some time ago, I wanted to find some pics of heads exploding to make memes to promote the site lol)

Yeah one of the earlier things that people used to do was play with YouTube vids as an early form of memeing and one of the most common clips was an exploding head one.

I assume that on some level this could have inspired the name of this site, eh @kapow@admin@exploding-heads.com ?

Our heads explode because we think critically and absorb more information then just one narrative
