Mine used to be Cafe Sushi in Harvard Square until they went take out only. They had omakase style nigiri by the piece for a reasonable price. Does anyone have any favorite or hidden gem?
My wife and I enjoy Douzo Sushi in Back Bay. One of the few places I’ve found that you can also get brown rice sushi too!
We recently tried “Fuji at Ink Block” in the south end. It was pricey but great.
Fuji Ink Block and Fuji WOC both do a pretty good job.

Not exactly local… but, new sushi place in Foxborough called “Hao”, is killing it! They try to get Hokkaido uni each week. I also hooked them up with the sake brewery in Medfield and they carry 2 of their styles.
Also, we really enjoyed the Omakase @ Umami in Cambridge.
My absolute favorite of all time was Takara sushi in Newton Center. It was a tiny hole in the wall mom & pop shop that offered a makimono special: spicy tuna, yellowtail, and eel for about $14-15. Every winter they would close for 1-2 months to go on vacation to visit their grandchildren and we would wish them a wonderful trip, and look forward to their return. The husband rolled the maki and the wife ran the register. They closed years ago. I miss them dearly. Just about crying now thinking about it 😭
I know what you mean. Losing a favorite sushi restaurant is like losing a friend.
If you don’t mind going out to the suburbs, Minado in Natick is a sushi buffet. I love being able to eat a few rolls of many different types.
Looks fun! I haven’t had much luck with sushi buffets in the past but maybe I will check it out.
Kura Sushi in Arsenal Yards. It’s just okay at best on the sushi itself, but the whole experience is a fun little time with the revolving sushi bar, robot drink server, and capsule machines spitting out a toy when you’ve eaten enough plates.
I’ve been dying to go there! I used to love the Sushi boat restaurants in San Francisco. It’s too bad that the sushi is only mediocre there.
It’s fun! And not bad depending on how picky you are; I still enjoy the meal there.
