Lemmings went 3d. It’s not the best way to play this classic game due to the clunky controls and camera, but it’s still fun once you get past that. The controls just give lemmings 3d an extra difficulty.
There was this weird trend for a while that perfectly good 2d games were redesigned for 3d, as if that automatically made it better. Worms did the same. And like most other games that did the same, the franchise died shortly after.
The only games I can think of that successfully pulled off this transition was Duke Nukem and GTA.
Mario and metroid maybe. There’s probably more.
Depending on who you ask and how old they were at the time, some people would say they liked Sonic’s jump to 3D with Sonic Adventure.
(We don’t acknowledge 3D Blast. Or Jam.)
Oh yeah. For some people sonic did it good.
Oh! Command & conquer. Although the gameplay remained mostly the same. But if the game needs to play differently, command & conquer: renegade, even though it wasn’t as popular, but the gameplay is awesome.
Oh damn thanks for reminding me of that game!
Legend of Zelda absolutely pulled it off
Crusader No Remorse/Regret
Tomb Raider 1
Both had great gameplay but the control schemes are extremely difficult to use today.

Oh god this. Either my PC couldn’t run it very well, or the demo just sucked because I didn’t think the concept worked in 3D. Killed off the franchise really.
Another 3D transition was the Another World series. First there was Another World, then in the same style of graphics, Flashback and then the sequel in full 3D, Fade to Black which had awful controls and ran very slowly for me. I’m sure my machine matched the specs at the time.
I loved fade to black. It was hard as shit, and I sucked at it. I think I just liked the graphics and fluid esso of the animations.
