The clinic is, despite its name, not only a stunt but also an audacious legal experiment. The temple claims abortion can be performed as a Satanic sacrament, and therefore is a legally protected religious ritual. They plan to use this to sue to reestablish abortion rights that have been rescinded in other states.

I love this. I love every bit of this, and I never realized the Satanists were “hacking” to this extreme.

Same with the vibes, and even the controversy.

Once a week, Greaves smokes a lot of weed and hosts a virtual movie marathon with viewers tuning in on the temple’s online channel, TST TV. Films can be anything from B horror movies to Christian romcoms — interspersed with scenes Greaves splices together, one minute a topless woman performing in front of bongos, the next dancing meatballs.

“The unbaptism is a way for us to separate from religious trauma from our previous religious lives,” Honey says. To “move more into ourselves and establish our own set of values and establish an opportunity to heal through ritual.”

“I have little to no background or history in Satanism,” he admits.

For fucks sake kids, read up on Greaves before joining or getting involved. There’s a LOT of baggage with TST. They seem like they’re fighting a good fight, but Doug Mesner and Cevin Soling have very, very strong authoritarian tendencies, and lots of what is going on is super sketchy. The documentary “Hail Satan?” is filmed entirely through rose-colored glasses.

It’s really disappointing to see respectable papers doing such puff pieces on people that are not even close to living up to what they say.

Well if not them than who?

Who do you know, challenging the religious extremism in such a troll-laden manner?

You can love a piece of art without subscribing to the artists ideals and political beliefs.

This sums it up. No other group is willing to stand up on these topics. Do I think they’re perfect? No. They’re human. Humans who never anticipated leading a worldwide movement with so much time in the spotlight. I also completely understand the organization wanting to pick its legal battles closely. This does mean that the chapters should be locked in stride with the message from TST. If they spread too thin, they lose appeal and effectiveness. Hone in on religion. Keep pressure there until it is no longer needed. THEN move on.

Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to bear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!
