Violife is owned by Upfield, which has been owned by Unilever for a long ass time but was recently acquired by investment firm KKR & Co. Inc.
It does seem difficult to find vegan cheese companies in this market. I checked vegansupply.
Vegan cream cheese is super easy to make, but if people don’t want to make their own there may be smaller local companies available. Not that small companies are inherently not PBC of course.
Even in middle of nowhere eastern Ontario there is a small vegan cheese manufacturer that sells in grocery stores (and their own shop).
I support home made food but not everyone has the time. I’m unaware of any vegan places that create cheese in my part of the country.
It is important to celebrate the small wins as many meat eaters have told me they would only go vegan if it was more convenient.
Do not let perfect be the enemy of good.
