“Cream cheese has made its way into so many dishes that Canadians know and love – baked into cheesecake, schmeared on Montréal-style bagels, and even rolled into sushi,” said Violife Canada’s Commercial and Brand Lead Meryem Leyoussi, in a statement.

Ya’ll got any Montreal bagels that don’t have honey in them?

Violife is owned by Upfield, which has been owned by Unilever for a long ass time but was recently acquired by investment firm KKR & Co. Inc.

Vegan cream cheese is super easy to make, but if people don’t want to make their own there may be smaller local companies available. Not that small companies are inherently not PBC of course.

Even in middle of nowhere eastern Ontario there is a small vegan cheese manufacturer that sells in grocery stores (and their own shop).

I support home made food but not everyone has the time. I’m unaware of any vegan places that create cheese in my part of the country.

It is important to celebrate the small wins as many meat eaters have told me they would only go vegan if it was more convenient.
