        Because she tells people what they want (despite never actually acting on it), and stops the degenerates (read: anyone who isn’t a cishet christian) from destroying our country™.

        Also because her party not-so-covertly likes Mussolini and that’s popular in a country where 61% of the population is over 40.

      They know exactly what they’re doing. Just give it a month or two and the first murder will be pardoned for some perverted claim of “defending the unborn” to set the precedent

      The thing is… sexist bullshit like is bipartisan in Italy. The PD (Democratic Party, that is the center-left party) has its own Catholic wing.
