If Russia is drafting foreigners who would otherwise not be there if not for Unilever, then this would be a profoundly evil thing. If they’re actually just drafting Russian citizens who happen to work at Unilever, then this might be a misleading headline. The article doesn’t specify.

Yeah, exactly. What is Unilever supposed to do to protect their Russian workers? Well, they could leave Russia, but then their newly unemployed Russian workers will still get drafted…

Soooo, the company owning Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is continuing to operate in Russia because “exiting is not straightforward”. Bruh. You’re going to lose money in exchange for not supporting a murderous regime. It is straightforward.
Is there a reason you singled out Ben & Jerry’s? I’m just curious since Unilever has so many products, that seems like a rather specific and random one to point out.
It’s the one listed in the article that I see in daily life. It also has a reputation of being progressive, with their advocacy for LGBT+ rights and support of Bernie Sanders.
They have no choice. Exit Russia and leave thousands unemployed or follow Russian law and have business relatively as usual.
That’s literally what having a choice is. Some other large companies like Mc Donalds and Ikea chose the second option.
I think that they should let the thousands of workers vote if they want to lose their jobs to prove a point. Of course the war is terrible, but so is displacing thousands of people who are still going to be eligible for the draft regardless. Probably even moreso when they no longer have jobs.
