…luckily there are still some narrow 26" slicks available.
Lol. Done it as a $100-total-procurement two weeks before boarding the train to the ride.
BB creaked from 6k’ to 10k’ and back down and [the only 26” tires in town in 2017] served to make the descent down 119 into Boulder a brake-free piece of cake.
I still have it and it still doesn’t look as good as yours.
absolutely ballin’
What rack do you have there? I have what looks to be a similar problem, a bike without eyelets but I desperately want more storage
It’s a Tubus Vega Evo. It comes with 2 struts that usually connect to eyelets on the seatstays.
I connected one to a clamp I had left over from this adapter set:
https://www.tubus.com/en/products/accessories-rear-carriers/tubus-product/clamp-setThe other strut I just didn’t mount because the rear shifter cable runs along the right seatstay.
At the bottom, the rack mounts to the rear quick release axle with yet another adapter set:
https://www.tubus.com/en/products/accessories-rear-carriers/tubus-product/adapter-set-for-qr-axle-mountingIt’s an expensive set-up but I’ve been using the same rack and adapters on multiple bikes for the past 15 years.
Thanks a bunch, been trying to figure out how to pull this off and this looks like a nice solution 🙌
