Had a cat who was the polar opposite, hard surfaces only.
We have a cat like that. My theory is that he’s so soft (he’s long hair) he needs something stable to lay on and he’s already comfortable due to his softness.

Yesterday my cat pulled the garbage bin over in my office and pulled it’s entire contents out on to the floor so she could use a napkin as a little bed for herself.

My cat is addicted to paper. He’ll literally make his own nest to lay in and make a ton of noise crinkling with. Cardboard too.
