The thing is, regulations are slow as fuck. When finally something is made, something ne comes up, and doesn’t help that most of the guys in the law making process are old guys that don’t understand how fast technology grows, let alone understand the impact of said technologies.
Yeah, the coming years will be very chaotic but hopefully things stabilise quickly enough
Regulation feels hopeless.
It’s a matter of time until it becomes simple to create an AI at home, let alone get one from elsewhere.Yes, but it’s still necessary even if it will be hard to do. Three of the biggest obstacles with regulating the ai that come to my mind are:
- Regulators may be not up to date with advancements in ai and it’s potential
- Regulations may be done in such a way to help big corporations
- Ai is advancing so fast that it becomes difficult to even predict how it will affect our society in the next 5-10 years
Edit: I’m not saying that private uses of ai should be regulated when it doesn’t affect anyone.
